Description Tech Team’s Pro Grade Scraper Set is the perfect mechanic’s tool set for preparing gasket surfaces and removing rust, scaling, carbon deposits and corrosion. It is also the perfect professional house painter’s accessory for removing paint and caulking.  The set consists of 3 tools all with oversized, textured, and easy to grip TPR (thermo plastic rubber) handless and heat treated, tempered steel 8 x 8mm shanks and precision hollow ground cutting edges. The 8” / 210mm and 4.5” / 115mm long tools have 1” / 25.4mm wide blades and the 6.25” x 160mm tool has a .375” / 10.2mm wide blade. The cutting edges are all flat on the bottom edge which means that you want to hold the tool at a 10 – 20-degree angle to the work surface. If you nick or damage the cutting edge of the blade it can be resharpened on a fine grinding wheel; usually the side of the wheel will provide the best result. Do this carefully and never allow the blade to overheat as this will remove the temper and cause the steel to weaken. Product Details If you are working on head gaskets, valve covers, or head gaskets this set is the ticket. However, you always need to consider the type of material you are working on before you start to prepare the surface. Cast iron is the hardest and most forgiving followed by stainless steel; steel, aluminum, magnesium, and brass will take a lot of extra care. For some of these you may want to start with a plastic, or nylon, scraper and then advance to a razor blade always being careful not to gouge the surface. If you have a 5.0L Ford Mustang GT with a plastic oil pan, these are NOT the tool to use. Remember once the surface is damaged it can not be repaired and the seal can be compromised.
